Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, Maria Cândida Pereira Teixeira, highlighted the Angolan Executive’s efforts to create institutions aimed at protecting children’s rights as provided for in the African Charter, which provides for the right to education, the right to participate in the cultural life of the community, the right to health, among others.

The diplomat was speaking during an event held at the Casa da Cultura de Angola in Havana in an act to commemorate the Day of the African Child and which brought together Angolan children, from Africa and other latitudes, Cuban ambassadors and authorities and officials of the Angolan diplomatic mission in the Cuban capital.

Referring to Angola, Cândida Teixeira, mentioned the creation by the Executive of the Law on the Protection and Integral Development of the Child that adopted in 2007 the 11 Commitments that guarantee to each one of them, equality of rights and opportunities and that they are listened to, respected and value your opinions.

The day was also filled with several cultural moments, highlighting the recitation of poetry, folkloric and modern dances, fashion shows with African costumes and the tasting of typical Angolan dishes.
