Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, participated, this Monday, in a virtual way, in Luanda, in the Meeting of the Bureau of the Assembly of the African Union, convened, punctually, to listen to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The meeting, led by the President of Senegal and President-in-Office of the African Union, Macky Sall, helped Volodymyr Zelenskyy to take stock of the political, military and humanitarian situation in his country since the beginning of the conflict with Russia.

In his speech, the President of Ukraine reiterated the need to put an end to the conflict, calling for the strengthening of sanctions and requested support from the African Union to stop the situation in the country.

The meeting also included a briefing by Macky Sall, acting President of the African Union, about the meeting held with Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, held on 3 June in Sochi, together with Moussa Faki Mahamat, President of the African Commission.

The Bureau of the Assembly of the African Union is composed of a President, three Vice-Presidents and a Rapporteur. Angola occupies one of the Vice-Presidencies.
