Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received, in audience, yesterday, the ambassadors of Kenya and Guinea, who presented their farewell greetings.
These are the ambassadors of the republics of Guinea, Edouard Thea, and of Kenya, Josphat Maikara, who were unanimous in the affirmation that they leave Angola with a sense of mission accomplished.
Josphat Maikara, from Kenya, was the first to offer his farewell greetings to the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.
Speaking to the press at the end of the audience, he said, that during the seven years leading the mission he contributed to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, uniting nations and, consequently, peoples and businessmen.
“I am satisfied. During the seven years that I have held this role, I have managed to lay solid foundations to leverage bilateral relations between the two countries, in such a way that, from now on, we hope that relations between the Republics of Angola and Kenya can grow.” more and more”, said the diplomat.
Regarding trade relations between the two countries, Josphat Maikara considered them “quite good”, highlighting the Angola/Kenya Business Business Forum, held in 2019, which has already resulted in Angolan investors going to that country.
At the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said that contacts continued to strengthen cooperation in various areas, with emphasis on Trade and Investment, Oil and Gas, Minerals, Higher Education, Science and Technology, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy, as well as as in gender and women’s empowerment.
In turn, the plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Guinea, Edouard Thea, praised the support provided by the Angolan Government during its stay in Angola.
“I leave Angola with its duty accomplished, within the scope of the relations established between the two countries and in the strengthening of the Agriculture, Fisheries, Mines and Energy sectors”, he underlined, adding that one of the highest points of the mission was the official visit from President João Lourenço to Guinea, in 2021, which marked a decisive page in the relations between the countries.
