Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues, clarified that the studies being carried out for the reform of the Public Administration do not involve increasing the retirement age.

“There is no increase in relation to the retirement age. The two bills that were generally approved in the National Assembly, namely the Basic Law on Civil Service and the proposal for a General Labor Law, do not refer to this issue of increasing the retirement age”, underlined the head of MAPTSS.

Teresa Rodrigues explained that the issue of raising the retirement age is a package that needs further analysis and detailed studies to be able to assess the opportunity and consciously make any changes to the retirement age.

The minister also said that changes to the retirement age have been a practice in European countries, and, in this case, in some states in the SADC region, but Angola has not yet studied this issue or prepared for the due effects. .

The official made it known that the proposals for a Basic Law on Public Service and the General Labor Law, approved in general by the National Assembly, brought several novelties and consecrations that will benefit the Public Administration.

Regarding the novelties, not only the rights, but also the duties of workers stand out. “We are talking about the reduction of 7h00 of work, as opposed to the current 8h00”. The minister also highlighted the introduction of the work period in the Civil Service corresponding to 35 hours a week and 7 hours a day, from 8 am to 3 pm, from Monday to Friday, as well as the insertion of telework in the Civil Service.

Teresa Dias said that Angola is a member of the International Labor Organization (ILO), so it must be aligned with the entire universal pact that is dealt with in terms of matters of legal and labor relations.

The Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Dias, declared that all those who are 60 years of age, taxpayers or who have 35 years of effective service, are the people who are entitled to a retirement pension.

He explained, by the way, that citizens who have 180 consecutive months, or interpolated from contributions to mandatory social protection, have a retirement pension and enjoy the minimum period established by law for the retirement pension.
