Africa-Press – Angola. The U-18 women’s national basketball team has scheduled this week to hold control games with men’s U-14 teams, in the projection of the African Championship of the category, to take place from 4th to 14th of August, in Antananarivo.
In the last two training sessions, held at Multiusos do Kilamba and Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo da Cidadela, the coach, Elisa Pires, again evaluated the resourcefulness of each athlete, for the group that she intends to take to the competition stage.
The idea is to assemble a cohesive team, capable of responding to different game situations. With the exception of Mali and Egypt, currently playing in the U-17 World Cup Hungary’2022, there is no information about the other teams.
The assistant coach, Agdel Cristiano, spoke about the group’s chemistry, after two weeks of preparation. The coach began by highlighting the “good physical shape” of the players as the start of the competition approaches, as a result of the intensity implemented in the second microcycle.
“Evolution can already be seen with the improvement of technique and tactics, in attack and defense situations. It is obvious that there are gaps, and the work is aimed at filling these shortcomings. The control games, to be carried out before boarding, will contribute considerably,” analyzed Agdel.
Here is the list of those selected: Helga Ramos, Khadijha Tungo, Nadjda Domingos, Isabel João, Sandra Gomes, Antónia Quintas, Valentina Chinhama, Angelina João, Paula Gomes, Débora Diakiesse, Mara António, Verónica Epalanga, Armanda Sandalalua and Sara Kandaponi.
