Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, is already in Qatar, mandated by President João Lourenço, to represent the country at the signing ceremony of the Peace Agreement between the Government of Chad and the Political-Military Movements, to take place on Monday. Friday in Doha.

According to the Letter of Invitation, addressed to the head of Angolan diplomacy, the Doha Peace Agreement, to be signed, in the capital of Qatar, aims to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace in the Republic of Chad, in addition to realizing the hopes and aspirations of the Chadian people and the right to live in security and prosperity.

Bilateral cooperation between Angola and the State of Qatar has evolved significantly in recent years, with the two countries being important producers and exporters of oil and gas, areas in which the relationship currently focuses.

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, paid an official visit to Doha, State of Qatar, between 8 and 9 September 2019. During the visit, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, encouraged Qatari businessmen to invest in the different sectors of the Angolan economy.

On the sidelines of this visit, several legal instruments were signed, with emphasis on the Agreements in the fields of Maritime and Port, Technical, Commercial and Economic Cooperation, Visa Exemption in Diplomatic and Service Passports and the establishment of the Political Consultation mechanism.

In this mission to Doha, on behalf of the Angolan State, minister Téte António is accompanied by Miguel César Domingos Bembe, director for Africa, the Middle East and Regional Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as senior officials from his office.

The Government of the Republic of Angola recently opened the Diplomatic Mission in the State of Qatar, having as the first extraordinary and plenipotentiary resident ambassador António Coelho Ramos da Cruz.
