Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s first provincial secretary of Benguela, Luís Nunes, said that the rescue of Lobito’s mystique as “the country’s living room” is in sight and getting closer. During a mass rally in Alto Liro, he recalled that due to the region’s peculiar characteristics, interventions will mainly focus on roads.
On the occasion, Luís Nunes also spoke of the cleaning work carried out in the mangroves and in the drainage ditches, which allowed the flamingos to return and in terms of environmental impact, show the positive results that these actions are generating.
The politician recalled that the Executive led by João Lourenço, the party’s candidate for the elections on the 24th, drew up public policies that allow for various actions to be carried out, with the aim of guaranteeing the modernization of social facilities and integrated infrastructures in the municipalities. “These guarantee better quality of life, more job opportunities and conditions to boost local production”, he said, recalling the conclusion of several projects and others still in progress. ”
In relation to the roads in Lobito, he guaranteed that the interventions to be carried out will focus on various sections of the city. He highlighted the completion of the section of the road that connects Pastelaria Áurea to the roundabout of the Operational Unit, the construction of a highway between the municipality of Catumbela and the exit from Lobito, in the Africano area.
In addition to these road layouts, he also spoke about the rehabilitation of Avenida Brasil, the Colina da Saudade roundabout, Avenida Craveira Lopes – Railway Line of the Benguela Railway (CFB) – to the Silva Carvalho section, among other points in Lobito.
Luís Nunes assured that, in addition to asphalting, curbs and public lighting will also be replaced on these sections, particularly in the Upper Lobito area.
The also governor of Benguela also pointed out the requalification of the neighborhoods of Canata and Compão, with asphalting, public lighting and sidewalks. The cleaning and profiling of the drainage ditches will also be carried out in Lobito.
The rehabilitation of the Regional Ethnographic Museum and Cine Flamingo, as well as the requalification of the road network in Bairro 28 and all the lanes of the main avenues are also part of the list of works to be carried out.
“We will also carry out the recovery of all the green areas and the replacement of the production capacity of the ETA-Luhongo, as well as the reinforcement of the water production capacity in the Chiule catchment, with the construction of new boreholes, which will allow , the high areas of Lobito and Catumbela”, assured Luís Nunes.
