“SOS-Criança” hotline registers 296 complaints against minors

Africa-Press – Angola. A total of 296 reports of violence against children were received, from 29 July to 4 this month, across the country, by the “SOS-Criança” reporting service, telephone terminal 15015, said, Monday (08), in Luanda, the spokeswoman for the National Children’s Institute (INAC).

Rosalina Domingos informed, in the presentation of the weekly data to the press, that most cases are linked to physical and psychological violence, with 109 occurrences, evasion of paternity and custody dispute, with 75 cases. In addition to these, she said, there were three cases of sexual abuse against minors and another three of child labor exploitation.

“The provinces with the most registered cases are Bié, Uíge, Malanje, Luanda, Lundas Sul and Norte”, recalled the head of Department of INAC, an organization linked to the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion (MASFAMU).

Occurrences

The municipality of Cuito, in Bié, registered a complaint of sexual abuse, of a 13-year-old minor, abused by three citizens. Based on the complaint, the minor recognized them and they fled. “The case was referred to the Provincial Social Action Office and the National Police Command”.

In Lunda-Norte, in the municipality of Cuango, he said, a complaint of sexual abuse was received, whose victim, a 12-year-old child, was abused by the neighbor to the point of having severe hemorrhages. The alleged rapist is already in custody.

In Luanda, the municipality of Viana had a report of sexual abuse, in which the victim, a minor under 7 years old, was abused by a minor under 14 years old. “The case has already been referred to the care of the Municipal Social Action Directorate”, she explained.

Also in the municipality of Luanda, he said, there was a denunciation of an act of exploitation of child labour, in which several children, aged between 7 and 10 are victims. According to the complaint, the parents made the minors beg for alms.

In addition to these cases, he mentioned, there is also a complaint of exploitation, in a civil construction work, in the municipality of Belas, of children, aged 12 and 15 years.

For this week, the department head Rosalina Domingos advises greater protection of children against violence and everyone’s responsibility. “We need to start reporting more acts of violence to the authorities or through the 15015 line. The call is anonymous, free and confidential,” she said.
