Africa-Press – Angola. The leader of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, announced yesterday, in Malanje, that once elected President of the Republic, he will suspend the link with the party and the command of the political formation to govern only for the people.
The leader of the black rooster, who was speaking during a mass political rally in the space adjacent to the former Xawande market, in the Carreira de Tiro neighbourhood, also proposes the constitutional revision and allowing the direct election of the President of the Republic.
Adalberto Costa Júnior said that with this intention the President of the Republic is the only holder of the Executive power, adding that this would contribute to the rendering of accounts to the people.
He referred that the union of other political parties means a rupture with the party in power and that UNITA wants State institutions that respect the citizen and the legality. “Our great purpose is to accomplish Angola and the Angolans”, she said.
He also pointed out as priorities the creation of an inclusive, participatory government with a governance of proximity. Adalberto Costa Júnior also wants to reverse the land law to be owned by the people.
He promised to bring peace to the province of Cabinda and find the status of conflicts in that region of the country, which he said was another commitment of his party. The UNITA leader defended government-subsidized education.
He also highlighted the country’s agricultural potential, which is why it is “one of the main priorities to contribute to food self-sufficiency and the transformation of rural products”.
