Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA candidate for the elections on the 24th of this month is presiding today, in the Ritondo district, in Malanje, of a mass political act, as part of the electoral campaign. João Lourenço arrived, on Tuesday afternoon, in the province of Malanje. This morning, all roads will lead to the square adjacent to the Luanda Railways, the place chosen to host the rally.

Thousands of people, among militants, sympathizers and friends of the MPLA, are expected at the act, to hear from João Lourenço the guidelines of the governance program for the next five years.

The first secretary of the Malanje Provincial Committee of the party, Norberto dos Santos “Kwata Kanawa”, reported that “President João Lourenço found a province that has always nurtured a special affection for the MPLA and its leader”.

The city streets are colored red and black. Since the arrival of the president’s entourage, an atmosphere full of euphoria has taken over the militants who, through songs, praise the figure of their leader.

In the last General Elections, in 2017, the MPLA was the winner in Malanje, getting 162,219 votes, corresponding to 76.53 percent of all valid votes. With this result, the party elected the five deputies of the provincial circle, a feat that it wants to repeat on the 24th of this month. In the elections on the 24th, in addition to these five political formations, the MPLA also has two other parties in competition, namely P-NJANGO, by Dinho Chingunji, and PHA, by Florbela Malaquias, which are making their debut in elections.
