Africa-Press – Angola. The logo and website of the X Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), taking place from 6 to 10 December this year, in Luanda, with the presence of 79 member nations , was publicly presented this Monday in the country’s capital.

The presentation was made during a meeting guided by the coordinator of the working group, created by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for the preparation, coordination and organization of tasks related to Angola’s responsibilities at the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António .

The website has information about the Summit, the country and the member states of the Organization. “With this launch, we also intend to inform Angolan citizens, businessmen and entrepreneurs, civil society and the public, in general, about this commitment made by the Angolan Executive, which is the holding of the X Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States in our country”, stressed the head of Angolan diplomacy.

“This Summit will take place here in Luanda and, as a result, we believe that, for greater dissemination of information, it was necessary to create mechanisms to identify this conference”, stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, for whom, from now on, with the launch of these instruments, citizens will have more information about the event taking place in the country. During this summit, Angola will assume the presidency of the organization, for the triennium 2022 – 2025.

The country’s candidacy for the presidency of the OEACP was unanimously accepted during the Nairobi Summit, which is why this summit of Heads of State and Government will be held, whose motto will be: “3 Continents, 3 Oceans and 1 Common Destiny: Building a Resilient and Sustainable OASCP”.

A large number of guests are expected from the 79 Member States and from different protocol rankings, from Heads of State and Government, directors of United Nations Agencies and intergovernmental institutions, regional banks and other OEACP partners.

Téte António said that, in material and financial terms, the logistical volume is enormous, but, on the other hand, the initiative will create opportunities for businessmen, entrepreneurs and other segments of the local market. He added that the event will reaffirm the OASCP’s first step as an international organization. “Since the Nairobi summit, this will be the first in which the OASCP meets as an international organization, after the George Town Treaty”, he stressed.

The coordinator of the working group for the preparation, coordination and organization of the event said that the country had already received, as part of the preparations for the summit, visits by the secretaries of the organization, who traveled to the national territory to assess, among other things, compliance of the Headquarters Agreement (instrument signed when hosting an international meeting).

“So far, we have not received any complaints from the secretariat. We have been a cohesive group in this sense”, stressed Téte António, adding that the country will honor this commitment. This summit will be the first to take place after the transformation of the ACP Group into an International Organization, which increases the country’s responsibility for the affirmation of this new status.

The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, whose secretary-general is the Angolan ambassador Georges Chikoti, is an international organization, resulting from the evolution of the ACP Group, which brings together 79 Member States from three continents.
