Africa-Press – Angola. The director general of the National Defense Institute, vice-admiral António Miranda, appealed to the staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) to participate in the elections on the 24th of this month in a civic and orderly manner.

The vice admiral, who was speaking to the personnel of the three branches of the Angolan Armed Forces (Army, National Air Force and Navy), at the opening of the “electoral civic awareness day”, said that it is imperative that the personnel adopt a copy before, during and after the elections.

António Miranda clarified that the training action is not intended to indicate the direction of voting in the polls, but rather to appeal to a disciplined and exemplary conduct in choosing the next President of the Republic and the 220 deputies to the National Assembly and through them the members of the future Executive.

He said, on the other hand, that the personnel of the Armed Forces must walk towards the elections without doubts, nor fear in relation to the importance of the process in the construction of a Democratic State and of Law.

The deputy director-general of the National Defense Institute, Hélder Kafala, called upon to speak about the ongoing process, said that electoral civic education is the bulwark for free, fair and transparent elections.

He explained that it is the responsibility of all Angolans to work towards an exemplary, orderly and harmonious electoral process. He considered it necessary to increase the levels of political education in the country, to reduce to zero the wave of doubts prevailing even at the doors of the elections.

The training action is the result of a partnership between the National Defense Institute, the Ministry of National Defense and Homeland Veterans and the National Electoral Commission.
