Young Brigade presents a collection in Cabinda

Africa-Press – Angola. The Young Angolan Literature Brigade (BJL) in Cabinda presented yesterday, in that city, the poetry collection “Geração que Lê – Poetas da Nova Angola”, a work that brings together poems by 70 young Angolan authors, inserted in the activities alluding to the centenary of the birth of António Agostinho Neto.

At the presentation ceremony, the president of the BJL in Cabinda, Roberto Sucama Ngoma, said that the work, with 188 pages, published this year by the Brigada Jovem de Literatura de Angola, aims to give opportunity to the generation of new writers who cannot to publish their writings.

He mentioned that the poems presented in the book were provided by the young poets themselves, showing talent, vocation and gift in expressing their emotions and poetic ego in their writings. “The most interesting thing about the work is its thematic diversity expressed in the most varied forms of poetry such as epic, lyrical, heroic, bucolic, satirical, sacred and religious” underlined Roberto Ngoma, co-author of the work with the poems “Mulher Virtuosa” and “My mom”.

This collection, he underlined, is an unequivocal proof of the emergence of a new generation of Angolan poets who join the world of African and universal literature.

According to Roberto Ngoma, writers of the new generation, especially in Cabinda, face difficulties such as the lack of support and sponsorship, as well as the lack of printers to handle the book and publishers, which means that several initiatives die right away.

“The desire of young people with literary talent is to show their work, but financial difficulties force them to keep their work in drawers or hidden folders on the computer.”

In Cabinda, he said, there is a lack of concrete policies that can contribute to the promotion of literary creation, as well as actions aimed at publishing works and promoting the development of literature and prizes to encourage young writers.

The poetry collection was launched on the 12th of this month, at the Mediateca 28 de Agosto, in Luanda.
