Africa-Press – Angola. Since the beginning of the morning, at Praça da República, in Luanda, tributes have continued to the figure of the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, who died at the age of 79, on the 8th of July last, in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, by illness.
In Praça da República, the urn with the body of the former President is covered with the Angolan flag and was placed in a tent where it is surrounded by wreaths of flowers.
There several State entities were present and paid tribute to the former Angolan statesman.
The funeral urn with the body of José Eduardo dos Santos left in the early hours of this morning, from the family residence, in Miramar, in Luanda, traveled through several points of the capital, before reaching Praça da República.
During the procession with military honors, the scene was one of sadness, emotion, tears and also applause as a sign of farewell.
Considered the architect of peace, the former President of the Republic ruled Angola from 1979 to 2017.
