Africa-Press – Angola. The family of the former President of the Republic remembered him, this Sunday, during the funeral ceremony, as a great father. Joseane dos Santos, who presented the family message, mentioned that of all the roles played by José Eduardo dos Santos in the family sphere, as a son, brother, husband, father-in-law and father, the last one was the one that he paid the most dedication, being in this condition that adopted, without hesitation, an entire Nation and, therefore, the continent that bears it.
“That’s why, today, many affectionately call him Father of the Nation”, he said. He said that the family will treasure, with affection, the memories he shared of his experiences during his youth, as well as eternally echo the wisdom and knowledge passed from generation to generation to children, nephews, grandchildren.
Joseane dos Santos revealed that the man behind the title that her father carried was shy, easy to deal with and who was easily infected by the happiness of others. “For him, nothing was more important than his family”, she stressed, remembering that music and sport were always her true passions. “It was great to be able to wake up to the sound of his guitar and hear him sing,” she confessed. With her voice choked with emotion, Joseane dos Santos said that music will always be the meeting point between them and that the melodies of Franco, from the DRC, and the words of Gilberto Gil, a Brazilian musician, will represent part of what her father was. . “Each football match that we see will be like the gaze guided by your words. On these occasions, we will once again feel the joy you radiated in these days”, he stressed, promising to honor the name, character and trajectory of José Eduardo dos Santos. “I will not allow them to use your name in vain and for their own benefit, nor to desecrate your image”, he sentenced.
Joseane dos Santos stressed that, despite all the difficulties he went through alone and in silence, his father always remained a resilient man, secure in his values and concepts of life. “Dad, your struggles were not in vain. It is with gratitude that we remember your tenderness, your worried and attentive look. We apologize for the days and nights that took away your peace. Today, you have the rest you deserve, for the internal battles you fought “, he highlighted.
On behalf of the family, he thanked all the support provided by the Executive, which made it possible to hold his father’s funeral ceremony. “Our recognition to the members of the Executive who were willing and made this day possible”, highlighted Joseane dos Santos, who also referred to all those who joined the family in this moment of pain. “We will forever treasure the messages and expressions of dismay,” she concluded.
