Africa-Press – Angola. The Embassy of Angola in the United Arab Emirates will influence government bodies to create a center for Angolan studies in Abu Dhabi, according to the head of the diplomatic mission, Albino Malungo.
The diplomat was speaking during a webinar on “The life and work of António Agostinho Neto” promoted last Friday by the Consulate General of Angola in Dubai, as part of the celebrations of the “Centenary of the also Founder of the Angolan Nation”.
Albino Malungo, who participated as a guest of honor, said that Agostinho Neto’s component deserves further study and “is essential”, since his teachings will always remain in the memory of Angolans and even foreigners.
He stressed that there are already books by Agostinho Neto translated into Arabic and Indian languages, and the idea is to continue to greatly emphasize the historical contribution of the first President of Angola and National Hero.
The webinar of Angola to Saudi Arabia, Frederico Cardoso, also participated in the webinar, highlighting the need to continue research so that “we have more endogenous sources that can give us as true data as possible regarding the pillars on which it supports this process of building the Angolan Nation”. He stressed that there has to be more and more convincing references for future generations.
The videoconference included a lecture by Angolan historians, in the case of Adélia de Carvalho and Cornélio Caley, in the first moment, and in the second moment, by the historian Rosa Cruz e Silva and by the journalists and researchers, Arlindo Isabel and António Quino, who spoke about “The humanist dimension of Dr. António Agostinho Neto”.
The Consul General of Angola in Dubai, Bento Salazar, participated in the event as host.
The webinar was attended by officials from the Angolan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai, as well as members of the Angolan community residing in the United Arab Emirates.
