President returns to Luanda after ECCAS meeting

Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State João Lourenço already returned to the country after having attended last Wednesday in Brazzaville (Congo) the 20th ordinary session of the Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

In the meeting that took place at closed doors, president of the Democratic Republic of Congo Félix Tshisekedi took office of the rotating chairmanship of the organization replacing the his Congolese counterpart Denis Sassou N’guesso.

In the summit, the Head of States and Government among other topics analyzed the priority plan of action for the current year and analyzed a declaration on Woman, Peace and Security in Africa.

The ECCAS is a sub-regional organization of the Central Africa created in Libreville (Gabon) in December of 1981. It became operational in 1985 and aims at promoting cooperation and the self sufficient development particularly highlighting the economic stability and the improvement of living quality.

With the headquarters based in Libreville, the sub-regional community is composed of 11 member States, namely Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Sao Tome e Principe, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
