Africa-Press – Angola. The medical centers in the Altos-Luena and Social da Juventude districts, in the city of Luena, will have new medical and medication services, after a rehabilitation, expansion and equipping work carried out by the Municipal Administration of Moxico.
The head of the Bairro Social da Juventude medical center, José Tomás, said, during a visit made by the administrator of Moxico, Quintas Sempieca, that the improvements, which began in 2020, were made with funds from the Integrated Intervention Plan for Municipalities ( PIIM), aiming to give a new image and a more personalized service to the citizen.
After the works are completed, he explained, the center will provide services for childbirth, imaging, ultrasound, laboratory, pediatrics, medicine, stomatology and prenatal consultations. The space, he said, will have the capacity to accommodate 36 beds and serve, on average, 50 patients daily.
The person in charge of works at the Alto-Luena medical centre, Pita Chinoya, assured that the execution of the project is in the final phase, with only the installation of the mosaic, false ceiling, sanitary ware and the installation of electricity.
Since March of this year, he regretted, the project has received 30 percent of the agreed amount. “The Municipal Administration of Moxico has not yet made the rest available, a situation that is conditioning the progress of the work”, he criticized.
At the end of the visit, the administrator promised to do everything possible to make these services available to citizens this year. “We will hold a meeting with health professionals, who work in the municipality, and among other issues, we will address the epidemiological situation that tends to worsen in the rainy season”, he guaranteed.
