Leaders of youth associations and traditional authorities of Lunda-Norte, in Dundo, asked the new governor, Deolinda Vilarinho, to create mechanisms for the implementation of courses related to Geology and Mines in technical-professional and higher education institutions, with a view to to guarantee academic training opportunities in these fields for the local population.
Professor João Muacanhica considered that this initiative, aimed at institutionalizing such courses, will enable young graduates to have access to employment in the diamond companies operating in Lunda-Norte”.
The province, he added, is potentially diamond-bearing and within the framework of the opening of the Executive, through the Law in force on Private Investment, provides for the emergence of new national and foreign operators interested in developing the mining activity.
“Therefore, it is an excellent opportunity to create new jobs”, reaffirmed the also member of the Provincial Youth Council in Lunda-Norte.
To this end, the State must work in advance with the creation of conditions for the formation of human capital in order to ensure the functioning of companies that gradually emerge to avoid resorting to the importation of technicians.
João Muacanhica explained that the diamond sector has stood out in the absorption of opportunities and guarantees of new jobs for youth, hence the importance of the emergence of academic institutions with curricular plans aimed at training staff in these areas.
He defended that the implementation of technical courses in the centers of the National Institute for Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP) is among the solutions that the Government can find.
The academic also requested more internal and external scholarships, with a view to opening bridges for the training of staff in fields that do not exist.

Social impact projects
The modernization of health services, through the construction of new health units and supplying them with essential medicines, especially in communities far from urban centers, were also remembered by participants in the consultation meetings that Governor Deolinda Vilarinho has been carry out.
The lack of public lighting in neighborhoods and other population centers, together with the growing number of unemployed people, especially young people, have been the basis for the increase in the crime rate in Lunda-Norte, he stressed, considering it necessary to work on strengthening public security, through proximity police surveillance.
The mayor of Nachir from the municipality of Chitato and representative of the Royal Court of Muatxissengue Wa Tembo – leader of the traditional Cokwe power -, Alberto Caxala Cadrela, defended that priority actions should also be aimed at the massification of the Civil Registry for adults and minors, creating of jangos in places adjacent to the residences of the regedores and sobas, construction of sports infrastructures.
