The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry appealed, on Thursday (6), in Mbanza Kongo, to traditional authorities and municipal administrations to facilitate access to land for young people, to take care of agricultural activity, referring to being one of the ways to enhance the family development

António Francisco de Assis, who officially opened the 2022/2023 agricultural campaign, in the village of Kuzi, about 20 kilometers from the city of Mbanza Kongo, which took place under the motto “For sustainable and resilient agriculture towards improving security food and nutrition in Angola”, acknowledged that the problem of employability of young people can be overcome with involvement in the Agriculture sector, where there are conditions to work and develop.

“The Ministry of Agriculture needs the collaboration of traditional authorities, municipal administrators, to develop specific programs aimed at youth”, he appealed.

For the success of the process, according to Minister António Francisco de Assis, “habits tending to create difficulties in the lives of others, as they do not help in the development of youth and the country” must be put aside. province of Zaire, the support of the traditional authorities is essential, because they, together with the municipal administrations, facilitate access to land”, he stressed.

At the level of other provinces, he continued, the Ministry of Agriculture has already developed programs that facilitate young people, whose results are visible, through the creation of poultry and cattle. In terms of family farming, the minister recognized the significant commitment of women, with around 90 percent of agricultural products supplying the country.

So that there is an increase in agricultural production in the province of Zaire, where more than 30,000 hectares are prepared, the minister António Francisco de Assis pledged to walk with the women farmers, counting on the cooperatives.

“Several officials from the Agrarian Development Institute (IDA) are here and, together with the members of the cooperatives, will analyze the processes to increase agricultural production in the province of Zaire”, guaranteed the minister.
