Africa-Press – Angola. In total, 4,716 students are enrolled at the University of Luanda, after having passed the entrance exam, said the rector yesterday, who also announced the opening of the academic year.

Alfredo Buza said that the university will seek to work for the development of Luanda and the country, through the training of qualified staff, capable of carrying out research studies on some phenomena in the country.

The students, he added, who graduated from the University of Luanda will receive knowledge to help in the development of communities, from the cultural to the socio-economic sectors, as well as in the field of information technology. “We have instilled in students the idea of ​​working to reduce illiteracy in rural areas,” she said.

The courses implemented, he said, will be given in order to support the development of communities, through the diversification of social services. “The future graduates have the mission to work harder for the development of the country”.

At the opening of the academic year, the rector explained that the University of Luanda will offer 17 courses, including Social Sciences, Information Technology, Logistics and Transport Management, Visual Arts, Music, Childhood Education, International Relations, Services Social, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Aeronautical Management and Management Information Technology.

After the official opening, the institution’s management gave a “magna class”, which addressed the university’s challenges, under the motto “Act in the present, to guarantee the future”.

In office for two months, the dean said that the university was created in 2020, resulting from the merger of some public higher education institutions. Currently, revealed the rector, the academic institution already has four organic units in the capital.

Message from the Ministry of Education on Teacher’s Day

The Ministry of Education highlighted, in a press release, the need for Angolan teachers to invest more in resilient education and new ways of acting.

In a message on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, celebrated on the 5th of this month, the ministry also highlighted the need to look at the way teaching is organized, the means and strategies used, in the curriculum, and in the incorporation instruments that shorten and facilitate access to knowledge.

The teacher, the document stresses, is the one who effectively gives life and substance to the transformation of education in people. “The teacher is the one who best understands social, environmental, cultural and scientific phenomena and how to lead, through teaching, students to learning”.

On the occasion, the ministry salutes the teacher for the hard work carried out in the education and teaching of children. “World Teacher’s Day honors all those who contribute to teaching and to the education of society. This day promotes all those who have chosen teaching as a way of life and who dedicate their daily lives to teaching, children, young people The message of World Teacher’s Day is in the dignity and importance of the teacher in society, as a builder of people”, praises the document.

The date was created by UNESCO in 1994 with the aim of drawing attention to the fundamental role of teachers in society and in the education of the population.

Angola, explained the ministry, currently has 210,674 teachers.
