Africa-Press – Angola. The country will soon start producing grain on a large scale to supply the domestic market and encourage exports, announced this Tuesday in Malanje, the secretary of the President of the Republic for the Productive Sector, Isaac dos Anjos.
The official made this statement during visits to agro-industrial projects implemented in the Agro-Industrial Pole of Capanda.
He said that this objective will be materialized with the launch this time by the Government of the National Grain Production Project, PLANAGRÃO, which is now being constituted by the management and coordination unit.
Isaac dos Anjos added that the Executive’s vision is to expand the areas of agricultural production and take the issue of commercial agriculture to other provinces of the country, where there has not yet been this possibility of implementing commercial farms as seen in Malanje, with a view to production on a large scale.
The Secretary of the President of the Republic for the Productive Area considered that the investment made in the Malanje region in the business agriculture sector, mainly, is a great showcase and that, therefore, it is worth reviewing them in order to draw lessons from them and outline strategies for integration of the facility of these companies in this major project of production of grades in Angola.
The official stressed that the intention with PLANAGRÃO is to study the best ways to help entrepreneurs to make these ventures viable.
The country is viable from Cabinda to Cunene, which urges the youth to bet on entrepreneurship, this helps to avoid that we are always depending on foreign labor to explore the country’s potential.
Isaac dos Anjos recalled that the region of the Agro-Industrial Pole of Capanda has in addition to the Agro Capanda and Quizenga Farms, which he visited, with the Pungo a Ndongo Farm among others that are producing rice in Malanje province.
The secretary of the President of the Republic for the Productive Area said that in Malanje, ten farms had been elected, under the PLANAGRÃO, as well as a set of commercial farms in the provinces of Cuanza-Sul, Cunene and Huíla.
Regardless of that, he stressed, the aforementioned program includes 2 million peasants who will benefit from a specific program to increase their profitability in production.
There will be a different strategy to help the family and business agriculture sector, reinforced Isaac dos Anjos.
He explained that the Farms in the Capanda Complex are all privatized and there are others such as the Arable Land Management Company, in this case, Gesterra.
The head of Fazenda Agro Capanda, Mário Almeida said that the agricultural enterprise is located in an area of 10,000 hectares, of which 5 Agricultural Plants are dedicated to the production of cereals, in this case, corn, beans and soy. It has 11 pivots to irrigate more than 300 hectares and five silos with a capacity to store 30 thousand tons. The farm has employed 75 people and has as its objective the fight against hunger and poverty.
