Africa-Press – Angola. The writer Cremilda de Lima launches, on the 29th, the book “Brasas Reacendem Imagens”, at the headquarters of the Union of Angolan Writers, under the seal of the publishing house “É Sobrenós”.

The launch ceremony takes place at 3:00 pm and includes sales and autograph sessions by one of the most regular authors of children’s works.

The writer’s career dates back to 1984, the year in which she was admitted to the Union of Angolan Writers (UEA). Cremilda de Lima has published several children’s books, including “O Tambarino dourado”, “Os Kandengues parade at Carnival” (2015), “Temtêmbwa Ya Dipanda” (Star of Independence), “Uma Aventura nas Nuvens” (2016) and ” Joking in the Moonlight” (2016).

She has been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize twice, in 2008 and 2009. The prize was funded by the Swedish Government and is awarded as a condition for distinguished merit in children’s literature.

In 2008, she was awarded the Diploma of Merit by the Ministry of Culture of Angola in contribution to the dissemination of Angolan children’s literature.

Awarded, in 2016, with the National Prize for Culture and Arts in the literature category, the year in which the president of the jury, António Fonseca, described her as “one of the pioneers” in Angolan children’s literature.

Maria Cremilda Martins Fernandes Alves de Lima was born in Luanda on March 25, 1940. She attended several teacher training courses between 1962 and 1963 in Bié, and in Luanda, between 1963 and 1964.

Subsequently, she began to work as a primary teacher in Malanje, and in Luanda, in 1965. In 1987, she completed the scientific-pedagogical training course at the Escola Superior de Educação de Setúbal, and the course in Portuguese language and culture at the Faculty of Arts of University of Lisbon.
