Africa-Press – Angola. The National Electoral Commission (CNE) has already received the accountability reports from four political parties competing in the General Elections of 24 August.
According to CNE spokesman Lucas Quilundo, the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), the National Union for Total Independence delivered their accountability documents. of Angola (UNITA) and the Nationalist Party for Justice in Angola (P-NJANGO).
“Under the law, the CNE has 30 days to proceed with its assessment and, if it notices irregularities, notify these formations for another 15 days to make the corrections”, he said.
The CNE spokesperson underlined that those who have not yet delivered the reports – cases of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola-Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) and the National Patriotic Alliance (APN) -, “are subject to the consequences of the law”.
While the appraisal process is underway, “these formations can still send the documents for the rendering of accounts to the CNE”, he stressed.
For those who have already delivered, in the event of any irregularity being detected, Lucas Quilundo continued, the CNE notifies the electoral administrator of political training, so that the deficiencies can be eliminated within 15 days.
“If the deficiencies are not eliminated, it is clear that the CNE issues an opinion in relation to this rendering of accounts, as having not been rendered accountable within the procedures”, he explained.
“Under the law, those who do not render accounts or if the accounts are rendered deficiently, in the part where the accounts were not rendered, the law imposes the return of these amounts to the National Treasury”, he stressed.
