Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Health (MINSA) recommended, this Monday, the tutors of children under five to complete the National Vaccination Calendar, going to the health units closest to the residence.
In a message on the occasion of the World Day to Combat Poliomyelitis, which is celebrated today, he reiterates the need to keep children safe and healthy against 13 main vaccine-preventable diseases, such as polio, measles, acute diarrheal diseases, meningitis, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, among others.
“It is important to mention that pregnant women must have at least two doses of tetanus vaccine to prevent this lethal disease in newborns”.
According to the Ministry of Health, Angola eliminated the circulation of the Wild Poliomyelitis Virus about 11 years ago.
The last case of wild poliovirus was reported in Angola on 7 July 2011, in the municipality of Quimbele in the province of Uíge.
