Africa-Press – Angola. A University City, whose first building stone was laid yesterday by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, will be born in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, province of Luanda, in an initiative of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to the University City, sponsored by Ana Dias Lourenço, the Methodist Church will also build a conference center in the Mabaya neighborhood, Cassoneca commune, to gather about three thousand faithful.
The bishop of the United Methodist Church, Gaspar João Domingos, assured that the beginning of the works is for the next few days.
“In this place, we expect to bring a number of 3,500 faithful, in the next few days. So, we will start to see the movements happening here”, explained Bishop Gaspar João Domingos.
The municipal administrator of Icolo e Bengo, Umberta da Paixão, considered that the project carried out by the Methodist Church will represent an important milestone for the development of the locality.
Umberta da Paixão stressed that the population of Icolo and Bengo welcome the religious project with joy, as it is a work that is part of the culture of the people of the region, and welcomes the choice of the municipality to see the birth of a University City.
