Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, reaffirmed SADC’s support for the mediation efforts undertaken by President João Lourenço, in his capacity as Acting President of the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region.

Hage Geingob, who was speaking during a consultation with members of the Troika, namely Presidents Ciryl Ramaphosa of South Africa and Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, called for peace in eastern DRC and asked the parties to join the community’s efforts international community, in favor of an immediate ceasefire and the disarmament of belligerent groups, including the M23.

The Namibian Head of State, Hage Geingob, in his capacity as head of the Organ for Political Cooperation, Defense and Security, spoke on the phone Tuesday with Presidents Felix Tshisekedi (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Paul Kagame (Rwanda), on the political and military situation prevailing in eastern DRC.
