Africa-Press – Angola. The Municipal Administration of Viana donated, Thursday, eight tons of various goods to Cuba, to be distributed to those affected by hurricane “Ian”, which hit the largest island in the Caribbean for days.
The donation consists of non-perishable food items, used clothes, disposable diapers and cleaning products and was delivered to Rádio Viana, to, in turn, make it to the Association of Former Angolan Students in Cuba “Caimaneros”.
The movement of solidarity with the Cuban people is an initiative of the association, which, within the scope of the mission, is receiving donations from all over the country, to be transported to Cuba.
At the ceremony for handing over the collected goods, the deputy administrator of Viana, Edson Noy, informed the media that the donation is the result of a mobilization campaign carried out in all districts and communes of the municipality.
Edson Noy appealed to the residents of the municipality of Viana who have not yet joined the solidarity cause, to do so, as the Cuban people are “going through a difficult time”.
The deputy municipal administrator of Viana said that the solidarity movement is the result of “huge ties of friendship between Angola and Cuba”.
The campaign to collect donations for Cuba began more than 15 days ago across the country. In the list of donations already delivered to the Association of Former Angolan Students in Cuba are 50 tons of various products donated by the MPLA, at the end of last month, in a ceremony presided over by the vice president of the party.
Luísa Damião recalled, on the occasion, the historic relations with Cuba, which “has always been with us in the most difficult moments”.

Lar Beiral was built in 1963 and recently benefited from rehabilitation and modernization works, due to its state of degradation, with emphasis on cracks and electrical problems.
