Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s first secretary in office in Cuando Cubango, João Yambo Miguel, highlighted the role played by the church in the moralization of society, as a guarantee of peaceful and harmonious coexistence among citizens.
By intervening in the Sunday worship of the New Apostolic Church as part of a party program to visit and strengthen relations with all recognized congregations, he stressed that the Government, by itself, is not able to end the young people who are still inclined in the drug world, delinquency, prostitution, among other negative situations.
He added that the solution to these problems involves a continuous partnership between the church and the party that governs the country: “Only with this partnership will it be possible to transform society, to end some vices that sicken society”.
The politician appealed for the direct participation of the church in improving the living conditions of the population, with opening, indication and suggestion of places in need for more schools and hospitals, as well as the improvement of basic sanitation in towns and cities.
In Cuando Cubango, the New Apostolic Church has existed since 1986 and is established in six of the nine municipalities, namely Cuito Cuanavale, Cuchi, Mavinga, Rivungo and Cuangar, with more than eight thousand members.
