Africa-Press – Angola. A courtesy meeting to analyze new forms of partnership took place today, in Pretoria, between the Angolan ambassador to South Africa and the Chilean counterpart.

Filomena Delgado and Julio Fiol, mentioned in the statement from the Angolan Embassy in South Africa, took the opportunity to review bilateral cooperation, with the Chilean diplomat thanking him for his reception and hospitality at the end of the audience.

In a short message in the Embassy’s guestbook, Julio Fiol expressed his desire to see the strengthening of cooperation relations between the two countries.

Angola and Chile maintain bilateral relations based on a General Cooperation Agreement that was reinforced in 2014, during the visit to Luanda of the then Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet.

At the time, he discussed with the Angolan authorities the bases of a common action plan that was signed in September 2014 by the ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, covering several areas of cooperation, namely, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Energy, Higher Education, Maritime Security and Defense.

As part of the materialization of the common action plan, the Chilean International Cooperation Agency (ACIC) has offered scholarships to students from Angola through the Nelson Mandela program.
