The city of Menongue, capital of the province of Cuando Cubango, will host tomorrow (Saturday, 19) the central act of the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the youth organization of the MPLA (JMPLA), which will be led by the vice-president of the party, Luísa Damian.
For this purpose, since the early hours of yesterday, the first national secretary of the JMPLA, Crispiniano dos Santos, has been present, who was received by the first provincial secretary of the MPLA in Cuando Cubango, José Martins, and by the members of the association he directs.
Speaking to the press, Crispiniano dos Santos said that the anticipated celebrations of the organization, founded on November 23, 1962, constitute a moment of great reflection for young people, on what should be the real role of youth, as a driving force of a nation, towards the development of the country.
During three days in Cuando Cubango, the JMPLA National Secretariat will carry out a series of activities, from direct contact with young people from the most varied segments of society to the collection of information on the state of socio-political and economic development in the region.
“These meetings are important, not only for us to listen to the problems that afflict the communities, but also for us to receive the best advice, to reflect together in a profound way, which allows us to faithfully advocate with the ministerial departments, with a view to resolving the problems of populations, especially young people”, he said.
Crispiniano dos Santos explained that Cuando Cubango was chosen to carry out the central event due to the great importance and symbolism it represents among young people, due to the battles fought in the region and which were marked by the strength of the youth at the time.
“We young people must continue this great work, cultivating the spirit of patriotism in people in general. Like our elders today who in their youth were the brave warriors who, out of love for their homeland, fought for national liberation “, said.
He stated that the youth of the MPLA is celebrating, for the celebration of these 60 years of existence, since its foundation on the threshold of the second war of national liberation. Therefore, it is a moment of joy and reflection.
“This province, by itself, has a great historical significance for the country. Therefore, the youth must go back in time and get information about the great battles that were fought here and reflect on where we left, where we are and where we want to take this rich Angola that we are so proud of”, he observed.
He added that the young Angolan should become a true development agent in order to put an end to the problems that affect this layer of society. Therefore, he reinforced, each one must be a fundamental piece for the construction of an increasingly developed state and a good province of Cuando Cubango to live in.
The arrival of the MPLA vice-president, Luísa Damião, is scheduled for today, in addition to a guided tour of one of the municipalities in the province (to be announced) and the central act of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the JMPLA, which will be held at the Salão Gimnodesportivo .
