President's diplomatic agenda satisfies MPLA Political Bureau

Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the MPLA welcomed, this Tuesday (22), the “intense diplomatic activity” of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with a tendency to mediate the conflicts that devastate certain regions of the African continent, with emphasis on the between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The highest body of the ruling party, gathered in Complexo do Futungo II, in its 3rd ordinary session, encouraged the Head of State to persist in this path of mediation, with a view to maintaining stability in the region.

President João Lourenço, as Champion of Peace and Reconciliation of the African Union, convened, for today, in Luanda, a Summit for the approval of the Peace Plan in the DRC and the re-establishment of good relations with Rwanda. The meeting’s agenda will be to look for ways to overcome the crisis between the two countries, generated by the resurgence of the armed rebellion of the M23, in the East of the DRC.

According to the communiqué of the meeting, distributed to the press, the Political Bureau also welcomed the results achieved by President João Lourenço, within the framework of the State visit to Norway, to strengthen economic relations with this European country.

The initiative, according to that MPLA body, reveals Angola’s intention to deepen transparency in economic management, increase scientific and technological knowledge, favoring national companies operating in different sectors, providing new areas of training for young Angolans .

The Political Bureau of the MPLA augurs success in holding the next Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), “for achieving the resilience and sustainability of the objectives of its creation”.

Party activities for the coming year

The MPLA Political Bureau met yesterday, under the guidance of President João Lourenço, to assess, among other matters and documents, the analytical and preliminary report on the electoral process, the general plan of activities for the year 2023 and the proposed agenda for the next session of the Central Committee.

That party body approved the proposals contained in the work agenda and also addressed various issues of political, social and economic life in the country, highlighting the positive appreciation of the festivities of the 47 years of National Independence, proclaimed on 11 November 1975.

Regarding the National Educator’s Day, celebrated yesterday, he congratulates the class and encourages them to continue to carry out with brilliance and zeal the noble mission of forming and positively educating generations with the level of acuity that guarantees the development of the country.

On the 66th anniversary of the founding of the MPLA, to be celebrated on the 10th of December, the Political Bureau appeals to militants, sympathizers and friends of the party and social organizations, to actively participate in the activities scheduled to salute the event, framed in the spirit of centenary of President António Agostinho Neto.

The members of the Political Bureau congratulated the 15th victory achieved in the Africa Cup of Nations, by the National Women’s Handball Team, congratulating it on this result and wishing that the ongoing work continues in a sustainable way.
