Africa-Press – Angola. Ministers from 79 countries from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific are meeting since the beginning of Sunday afternoon in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, to, among other matters, analyze all aspects related to the preparation of the 10th Summit of the OEACP , to be held from the 6th to the 10th of December, in Luanda, Republic of Angola.
Gathered for the 115th session, they are also discussing the preparations for the 45th Session of the ACP/European Union Council of Ministers, taking place tomorrow in Brussels, in addition to discussing institutional matters related to political and strategic issues, as well as as administrative and financial matters of the organization related to contributions from Member States that have affected the budgetary health of the OEACP.
According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which Jornal de Angola had access, yesterday, the Sunday session began with the intervention of Ambassador Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, Secretary General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, followed by a speech by Américo Browne, President-in-Office of the OEACP Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
This 115th Session of the OEACP is also being marked by the renewal of mandates of the governing bodies, with Mauritius being elected to chair the next Council of Ministers, as well as other members of the Ministerial Bureau, based on regional rotation.
The country is represented at this event with a delegation led by Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, made up of Ambassador Júlio Maiato, Director Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of the coordinator for the preparation of the 10th Summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), traveling ambassador José Guerreiro Alves Primo, and by the Angolan ambassador to Belgium, Mário Constantino.
The Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States intends to transform itself into a strong institution capable of working in solidarity, to improve the living conditions of the peoples of the 79 nations that comprise it.
The OEACP has historic partnership relations with the European Union, but it intends to expand relations with other strategic partnerships, as well as reinforce cooperation between Member States.
The OEACP is an organization formed to coordinate activities within the framework of the Lomé Convention of 1975, initialed with the European Union, which aims to ensure commercial coordination, guaranteeing freedom of access to the community market for almost all products from developing countries .
It also aims to ensure the stability of export earnings for 36 base products, protecting them against price fluctuations on the world market (Stabex), industrial and financial cooperation and the creation of institutions for the common management of the set of agreements.
