The Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, considered, Tuesday (29), General Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo “Kamorteiro” as one of the pillars for the conquest of definitive peace in Angola and an expert connoisseur of military art.
Regarding the death, on Monday, of the assistant chief of the General Staff for the Operational Development Area of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Francisco Furtado highlighted the general’s human qualities as a “human man”. mild, lucid and easy to deal with his subordinates and colleagues in arms, from soldier to general”.
“It was surprising for me and for all the comrades in arms of General Abreu Ukwachitembo “Kamorteiro” the sad news of his physical passing, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, November 28, 2022″, said the official.
He explained that the deceased knew how to win the sympathy, admiration and respect of all, dignifying the responsibilities attributed to him with loyalty, a spirit of dedication, camaraderie and leadership capacity.
He praised the commitment of General Kamorteiro, a few days after the death of UNITA leader, Jonas Savimbi, in the Lucusse region, Moxico province, for the continuation of negotiations between military leaders that culminated in the Peace Agreement for Angola, on 4 April 2002, he being one of the signatories.
He reiterated the commitment of General Kamorteiro to the UNITA Management Commission in the peace process, with a view to the ceasefire and the demilitarization of UNITA.
General Geraldo Abreu Muhengo Ukwachitembo “Kamorteiro” died, early on Monday, at the Military Hospital of Luanda, victim of illness.
