Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and her husband, António José da Costa Júnior, celebrated, this Sunday, 40 years of married life, the so-called “Emerald Wedding”.
Accompanied by their two children, the couple renewed their vows in a Eucharistic celebration, at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Parish, during which Bishop Anastácio Kahango highlighted the value of the family, considered the pillar of the Church, and of marriage in the eyes of God and society .
The Bishop, who celebrated the marriage precisely 40 years ago, congratulated the couple and encouraged them to continue along the paths of perseverance, temperance, friendship and love.
The prelate offered the Vice-President of the Republic and her husband a painting of “Mary, Joseph and the Child Jesus”, a symbol of the Holy Family, noting that, according to the teachings of the Holy Pontiff, “marriage is a common day between a man and a woman, in which the man has the mission to help the woman to be a better woman, and the woman has the mission to help her husband to be a better man. This is the mission you have in common. It is the reciprocity of difference”.
Using the words of Pope Francis, the Bishop said to the couple that “a marriage is not successful just because of its duration. Quality is very important and staying together and knowing how to love each other forever is the challenge of all Christian spouses ”.
The Vice-President of the Republic has two children, the result of her 40-year marriage to António José da Costa Júnior, a fellow member of the JMPLA in Cubaza, Bairro Popular.
