Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, highlighted Monday, in Luanda, that the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA) represents a great gain for the national economy, as it reflects the concern of the Angolan Executive in promoting a business environment and attraction of private investment, generating more jobs and consequent economic growth.

Speaking at the opening of the training cycle for ANIESA commercial inspectors, on investigation and protection of evidence, given by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), Victor Fernandes highlighted that food safety constitutes the main priority and concern of the department he directs, to guarantee quality of products marketed and consumed.

For this, Victor Fernandes defends coordinated and articulated actions by the inspectors, hence the importance of training and refreshing the technicians of the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety.

“Training is always welcome and extremely important for our inspectors, so that during their inspection actions they are duly documented and technically qualified to carry out their activity”, stressed Victor Fernandes, after acknowledging that ANIESA, for having the responsibility for supervising economic activities, it has the obligation to carry out training actions of this nature, as a result of the dynamism of the sector.

With regard to inspection visits, according to ANIESA data, the Commerce sector continues to be the most inspected, with a total of 1,020 establishments, out of the 1,668 visited throughout the economic circuit.

As for the country’s food reserve, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, guaranteed that the stock to ensure the festive season is assured, as operators have guaranteed their orders.

ANIESA’s general inspector, Diógenes de Oliveira, highlighted the importance of raising the awareness of economic operators, guided by the need for non-speculation in product prices. With regard to the training of inspectors, Diógenes de Oliveira reinforced that the cycle will run until the 14th of December, which in a first phase will involve more than 150 inspectors, of which 120 will be in person and in the other provinces of the country through the Zoom platform.

ANIESA results from the merger of inspection services from the Industry, Commerce, Tourism, Environment, Transport, Health, Agriculture and Fisheries sectors.

Responsibility

In turn, the Deputy Deputy Attorney General, Pedro Mendes de Carvalho, highlighted the cooperation that the two State institutions must develop, with ANIESA being responsible for detecting infringements on the ground and communicate to the PGR that, in addition to treating, it also verifies the responsibility of those who infringed.

Pedro Mendes de Carvalho also highlighted that ANIESA has detected many cases that reach the PGR, which, in turn, opens the competent criminal process. ANIESA sent more than 80 processes to the PGR.
