PR appoints deputy governors of the National Bank

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Thursday appointed Manuel António Tiago Dias and Pedro Rodrigo Gonçalves de Castro e Silva, to the posts of deputy governors of the National Bank of Angola (BNA).

Also yesterday, the Angolan Head of State appointed Maria Juliana de Carvalho Van-Dúnem de Fontes Pereira and Miguel Bartolomeu Miguel as administrators of the BNA.

The appointments were proposed by the governor of the central bank, according to a note from the institution reached press, adding that the measure is due to the fact that the governing bodies of the BNA have ended their previous mandate.

Functions of the BNA

As Central Bank and issuer, the BNA’s main functions are to ensure the preservation of the value of the national currency and to participate in the definition of monetary, financial and exchange rate policies.

The BNA is responsible for implementing, monitoring and controlling monetary, exchange rate and credit policies, managing the payment system and administering the currency within the scope of the country’s economic policy.
