Africa-Press – Angola. Luís Inácio Lula da Silva is sworn in on Sunday, January 1, 2023, as the 39th President of Brazil, in an act that is expected to bring together more than three hundred thousand people.

At the investiture ceremony, Angola will be represented by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, who is in the city of Brasília, since Friday, accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço.

Now 77 years old, Lula da Silva has ruled Brazil for two terms, between January 1, 2003 and January 1, 2011.

One of the founders of the Workers’ Party (PT), Lula da Silva was elected President of Brazil with 50.9% of the votes, after running in the second round of elections with Jair Bolsonaro, candidate for re-election.

The ministers announced by the new President of Brazil also take office on January 1, 2023, in a ceremony taking place at the Planalto Palace.

The inauguration of the rulers will take place as soon as the President is sworn in at the National Congress (Parliament).

“Squid is back “

On the main avenue next to the Esplanada dos Ministérios, various gifts are on display with sayings about the President-elect.

“Fight is back”, “With Lula, Brazil is happier”, “I’m with Lula, for Brazil to smile again”, “Vaccine, Picanha and Beer”, “Lula Resistência”, “Hope Overcame Fear” are, among others, others, sayings displayed on hats, sweaters, banners and plush dolls.

The Esplanada dos Ministérios is busy with citizens before the President’s investiture.

The act will have three moments, the first being at the National Congress (Parliament), the second at the Presidential Palace (Palácio do Planalto) and the third at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Palacio do Itamaraty).

According to the official program, the ceremony starts around 2 pm (6 pm in Angola), on Sunday, January 1, 2023, with the traditional car parade along the Esplanada.
