Africa-Press – Angola. About twenty electricity transport poles are starting to be replaced this week, in the Cabaia neighbourhood, on the outskirts of the city of Lobito (Benguela), to avoid the constant blackouts in that area and surroundings .
The aforementioned energy poles, made of concrete, are degraded due to the action of saltpeter, as they are installed a few meters from the seafront.
Despite the blackouts due to the constant breakdowns in the distribution network in that area, the execution time of the works worries the residents of the neighborhood and also of Praia Bebé, who fear being left in the dark indefinitely.
The head of the Maintenance Department of the National Electricity Distribution Company in Lobito, Mauro Caembe, contacted by press, said that the company is currently preparing the poles to support the new poles, due to the type of terrain in that area.
“We have material available in stock and the work is going on without any constraints”, reassured the technician, predicting that the work will be quick.
The neighborhood of Cabaia is located in the south of Lobito and borders Praia Bebé, belonging to the municipality of Catumbela. Both are bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean.
Electric power transmission poles serve to transport this good between different points, through high power transmission lines. They are connected to an electrical booth or Transformation Pole (PT) for distribution to the consumer, namely the population and companies.
