Africa-Press – Angola. The government of Lunda Norte is creating conditions for the evacuation of some families in the Kamaquenzo 1 neighborhood, in the municipality of Chitato, whose homes are at risk of collapsing, due to a ravine.

The information was provided Monday, by the vice-governor for technical services and infrastructure, Domingos Dala, underlining that a process of registering the number of families at risk is currently underway, a job that is being carried out by the municipal administration of Chitato.

He said that the evacuation of families at risk is also aimed at facilitating the works to definitively stagnate the said ravine, whose start is scheduled for this month.

In addition to the residences, the ravine threatens to swallow the runway at Kamaquenzo airport and the road that connects the Centrality of Mussungue and the city center of Dundo.

Due to its progression, one of the carriageways on the Centralidade/Dundo section was banned.

Domingos Dala, made it known that it is part of 12 emergency ravines that will be intervened in this economic year, for threatening residences, communication routes, among other social infrastructures.

In a first phase, from this month onwards, the ravines in the centrality of Mussungue and the airport roundabout will be intervened.

The province of Lunda Norte has cataloged 84 ravines.
