Africa-Press – Angola. The North American agro-food group “Dagan Ltd” intends to install in Angola, until 2024, an agro-industrial complex dedicated to fish farming, with an estimated annual production of 20 thousand tons of fish, said this Monday, the President, Sharon Amar.
For this purpose, the development will be installed in a global area of 25 hectares, of which 20 on land, along the sea and river coast, for the installation of 14 greenhouse tanks of 10 thousand square meters for fish farming.
Another four hectares of land are destined for the cultivation of cereals, aimed at the production of proteins/feed for fish, as well as for food consumption and one (1) hectare on the high seas, for the captive breeding of referenced species of fish.
According to the executive chairman of Dagan Ltd, following an audience granted by the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, João Cunha, for the presentation of the project, it includes agricultural, fish and biosalt production, as well as centers of agro-food training and research and the tourist component.
Sharon Amar said that the project would start running in 2024 and should be implemented in Luanda or in the province of Benguela. “Studies are being developed to define the location”, argued the American businessman.
According to the entrepreneur, who expressed total financial availability for the project, during this year the bureaucratic aspects, transfer and legalization of land for the subsequent transport of equipment will be triggered.
On the occasion, the leader of the American group considered Angola a stable country with all the conditions for growth and development.
In turn, the Secretary of State said that the Angolan Government will provide the necessary support for the implementation of the project, with the aim of offering the country sustainable fishing.
Press learned that the delegation of North American businessmen was received yesterdaay morning (30th) at the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, and by the Private Investment and Export Agency (AIPEX).
This Tuesday, the North American business delegation travels to Benguela province for a prospecting visit, as the project could be implemented in Benguela or Luanda.
The DAGAN Ltd group was founded in Israel 40 years ago and also has investments and businesses in China and Latin American countries. It is now trying to gain ground in Africa with projects it has for Angola.
