Africa-Press – Angola. Despite playing at home, Desportivo da Lunda Sul conceded Wednesday, in Saurimo, a home defeat against 1o de Agosto, by 0-1, in a match for the 4th round of the National Football Championship of the first division (Girabola2022/23).
The lone goal of the match, played at Estádio das Mangueiras, was scored by Liliano, in the 31st minute.
This meeting between the contenders did not take place on the scheduled date due to the participation of the “military” team in African competitions.
The start was favorable to 1o de Agosto, but it was the “Lundas” who created the first danger of the game through Depaiza, who delivered a strong shot to Neblu’s tight defense.
In the 18th minute, in a combined move, Baby passed to Depaiza and he assisted René, who still from a long way from the area shot for the goal, forcing the “military” goalkeeper to make a spectacular save.
Despite possession of the ball, the “Lundas” wasted several opportunities, with aimless shots and others the figure of the goalkeeper.
The winning goal for 1o de Agosto came in the 31st minute, due to a defensive error by the “Lundas”, and Liliano knew how to take advantage of it, thus changing the result of the game, until the break.
In the resumption of the match, Desportivo da Lunda Sul began to dominate, creating initiatives, however, they failed in the finalization.
Before the final whistle, the home team, dissatisfied, did everything to reach the tie, but without achieving the objective.
At the end of the match, the coach of Desportivo da Lunda Sul, Maurilio Silva, acknowledged defeat, pointing to the lack of concentration of his defenders as the cause of the defeat at home (Saurimo).
He promised to continue working to correct the mistakes and add the highest number of points, in order to reach the goals of this season, which is to be among the top eight.
In turn, the coach of 1o de Agosto, Filipe Nzanza, highlighted the hard work his team has been doing to stay in the privileged places.
He added that the team is improving game after game, and will continue like this until the end of the Championship.
With this result, Desportivo da Lunda Sul continues in 11th place, with 16 points, while 1o de Agosto rises to second place in the competition, with 33 points.
Next weekend, Desportivo da Lunda Sul will host Sporting de Cabinda, in a match for the 16th round.
