Africa-Press – Angola. The book “My long journey in handball from the courts to the leadership”, by José do Amaral “Maninho”, reflects the reality of the trajectory of a champion modality over the years.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, the book shows the ups and downs of the most titled sport in the country.
“We are all to be congratulated for this work done by Maninho, which tells a true story of the modality” said the official.
On the occasion, the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário de Oliveira, encouraged the author for the feat, stressing that gender actions should make all handball players proud, since part of the sport’s history is narrated in this work.

It should be noted that the minister has already held the position of vice-president of the Angolan Handball Federation, in the squad led by Archer Mangueira, in addition to having played for Petro de Luanda.
Meanwhile, the holder of the Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion portfolio, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, said that Maninho described situations experienced at the time.
“This only encourages other people to follow the same example,” said the former Minister of Youth and Sports.
The former practitioner also exhorted the handball family to report on the modality in order to transmit knowledge to the younger ones.
Meanwhile, the vice-president of the African Handball Confederation (CAHB), Pedro Godinho, considered it to be yet another document that shows a trajectory of different generations.

“Handball in Angola has a long history and Maninho dared to contribute in a different way and we are all remembered”, he argued.
The author of the work, on the other hand, expressed pride in the work and announced that he intends to place another work in the near future, with other information.
José do Amaral Júnior, known in sports as “Maninho MM”, was born in Luanda in 1963 and started playing handball at the General Geraldo Victor preparatory school.

He took a journalism course at the Karl Marx Institute, currently IMEL (Medium Institute of Economics of Luanda).
He is currently an employee of Sociedade Mineira do Catoca, having previously worked at the South African Embassy in Angola and at the Angola Press Agency as a journalist.
