Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Moxico province, Ernesto Muangala, said Saturday that the government will continue to implement actions aimed at improving the social conditions of national heroes, as a way of recognizing their fight for Angola’s sovereignty.
The government official, who was speaking on the occasion of the commemorations of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, reiterated that the heroes of the 4th of February laid the foundation for the conquest of independence, a struggle that must be honored with actions that promote development, unity and reconciliation among Angolans.
He said that the government of Moxico will continue to prioritize the sectors of education, health, energy, water, housing, among others, to promote the development of that district.
In turn, when speaking about “Preserving the values of the homeland, let us honor our heroes”, the academic José Mendes highlighted the important moments that determined the beginning of the armed struggle, stressing that such events should be a driving force for the achievement of new conquests .
On February 4, 1961, Angolan patriots armed with machetes launched an attack on the São Paulo Prison and the House of Reclusion, in Luanda, with the aim of freeing the unjustly imprisoned politicians.
The action started the Armed Struggle for National Liberation that culminated with the proclamation of National Independence, on November 11, 1975.
