Africa-Press – Angola. The memorable day at the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation was marked yesterday, Saturday, in Cuando Cubango, with the inauguration of the first three social facilities, of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

It is a maternal and child center with the capacity to hospitalize six pregnant women and includes a delivery room, male and female observatory, pediatric area, two offices, laboratory, treatment room and administrative area.

The infrastructure, which will serve the basic health services of the population of the commune of Caiundo, attached to the municipality of Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango, was carried out in eight months by the company Tranveste Construção Angola, costing the State coffers more than 230 million kwanzas.

As part of the event, the governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, also inaugurated two vaccination sleeves in the communes of Missombo and Caiundo, in the municipality of Menongue, with the capacity to immunize 100 head of cattle per day. Both cost 33 million and 300 thousand kwanzas.

In this domain, the province has already completed another 10 vaccination sleeves in other municipalities, only the respective inaugurations are missing, to contribute to improving the quality of life of the population, with the vaccination of its cattle.

The Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) in Cuando Cubango is carrying out 63 projects in the sectors of education, health, agriculture, construction of professional centers, among others, out of the 75 initially planned in the province, with a budget of 36 billion kwanzas.

Speaking at the provincial act, the governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, began by highlighting that the beginning of the National Liberation Struggle in 1961 constituted a unique example of patriotism, love of the country and courage of many of the best sons of Angola.

He said that in a fearless and brave way they began the great journey against the Portuguese colonist, culminating in the proclamation of the country’s Independence, on November 11, 1975.

“This fight should serve as a source of inspiration for the new generations of Angolans, thus opening the way for the construction of a new country, free from slavery and colonial oppression, with the achievement of the exercise of citizenship rights”, emphasizes the official.

The minister recalled that, as a result of peace in 2002, the results of the national reconstruction process are now visible, towards economic and social development, the right way to overcome the consequences of war and maintain independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
