Africa-Press – Angola. Financial support for operators in the national fishing and agricultural sector, in order to increase catch and production levels, is the bet that must be followed to guarantee balance and an economy less dependent on imports, according to the delegate of the Industrial Association. of Angola (AIA) in Benguela.

Carlos Leiria defends greater investment and other measures, which are being taken to control the catch, both in artisanal and deep sea fishing, as such options prevent harm to some species out of season or in the growth phase.

As he advocates, aquaculture projects at sea should already be under development to balance the existence of certain species.

As for agriculture, he said, Benguela has always been a province with an “acceptable” green belt, needing only some support components such as pest control, mainly for some cultures that are traditional in the region.

“It is first necessary to take care of agricultural support services, such as the creation of laboratories for pest control, for the creation of seeds that adapt to different types of climates depending on each region”, he advances. , also, to focus on the creation of irrigated perimeters, with the assembly of dams or retention dykes to accumulate water and openings of passages of some permanent rivers in order to keep the water in intermittent rivers, allowing irrigation throughout the year, avoiding waiting for the rains.

“There is a need to set up fertilizer factories whose raw material exists internally and so we would have diversified compounds, avoiding the systematic use of the best-known NPK in its unique composition of 12-24-12, where we all know that the plant often needs more than another component for the correction of culture.”

The industrialist was the one interviewed in the latest edition of Jornal Economia & Finanças, on Friday, February 4th.
