Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Mozambican Assembly of the Republic, Esperança Laurinda Francisco Bias, expressed yesterday, Monday, in Benguela, her intention to start an exchange of parliamentary missions between Angolan and Mozambican deputies.
The Mozambican parliamentary leader told the press, on the sidelines of a meeting with deputies from the provincial circle, that there are some specificities in the Angolan Assembly, such as the figure of coordinators of provincial circles, who are also deputies, which is not observed in Mozambique.
He explained that in Mozambique the monitoring of deputies is done through committees or parliamentary groups, which is why he expressed interest in sending Mozambican deputies on missions to Angola, in order to improve new experiences.
Asked about the reasons for her visit to Benguela province, she highlighted the economic potential of the region, adding that, as deputies, they should be attentive to activities in the economic field.
He made it known that the Mozambican MPs intend, in this spirit, to understand how Angolans monitor economic activities.
Accompanied by her Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira, the delegation was received by the governor of the province of Benguela, Luís Nunes, with whom they held a courtesy meeting.
As part of her work agenda, the president of the National Assembly of the Republic and Mozambique yesterday visited the National Museum of Archeology, in the city of Benguela, while for Tuesday she plans to visit the Biopio Photovoltaic Power Station, 42 kilometers from city of Lobito, as well as to the Refinery of that rail-port city.
On the occasion, the president of the National Assembly of Angola, Carolina Cerqueira, announced, later this year, an exchange of experiences between delegations of the respective National Assemblies so that, on the ground, there is an exchange of impressions and the development of new skills, in terms of cooperation at the parliamentary level.
According to Carolina Cerqueira, parliamentarians must be connected to technology and the media, for greater proximity to the electorate in all areas.
The return of the delegation to the country’s capital is scheduled for late Tuesday afternoon.
