Africa-Press – Angola. Inspectors from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recommended Monday, in Lubango, Huíla province, the urgent placement of a tartan track and other small improvements at the Tundavala stadium, so that it is authorized to host international matches .

Another situation that deserves attention is the replacement of degraded mosaics and some pipes in the bathrooms, compliance with which is crucial for CAF to admit the holding of international matches.

The alert was given by the person responsible for high competition at CAF, Muhammad Sidat, who is leading the delegation of inspectors on a two-day working visit to Huíla, where they are assessing the progress of works at Tundavala Stadium, as well as the state of readiness of hotels. and health units.

According to the official, there is also a need to improve the press area, changing the currently mobile tables to fixed ones and placing signs outside and inside the stadium, admitting that the cabins and some toilets are operational.

However, Sidat congratulated the work team carrying out work on the stadium, stating that in order to decide on a provisional authorization, he would have to wait for the tests that the CAF technicians would carry out on the quality of the turf.

The same team will, according to the source, carry out tests on the drainage system and the quality of the floor, noting that a year ago the infrastructure was visited by a CAF inspector and yesterday it already shows ample improvement, as well as a “quite positive”.

At Tundavala Stadium, work began two weeks ago to prepare the floor to receive the tartan track, which should only start being applied in the dry season, as the rains that fall frequently in Lubango can compromise the quality of the work, said the director from the provincial office for culture, tourism, youth and sports, Osvaldo Lunda.

According to the official, all the work recommended by CAF at Tundavala Stadium is already being carried out, so he believes that within two weeks it could be completed.
