Africa-Press – Angola. The European Union (EU) ambassador to Angola, Jeannett Seppens, has been in Benguela province since Thursday to prepare the second part of the business forum, to take place next May in that city.

The first part of the Forum took place in Brussels, Belgium, in March 2022.

According to the diplomat, a “Task Force” team made up of staff from the EU Embassy and technicians from the Angolan Ministry of Economy and Planning has been working for the purpose for some months.

“The idea of ​​organizing these business forums is to show European businessmen about the opportunities that Angola offers and we have to be realistic in saying that there are still some challenges to overcome”, considered the ambassador.

On the opportunities that interest the European Union, within the scope of the diversification of the economy, he pointed out the logistic chains, value chain, agribusiness, issues on climate change, among others.

He explained that the EU’s objective is to attract European businessmen to Angola and reinforce the partnership, as well as giving them the opportunity to see the areas where they can contribute.

On Thursday, the ambassador visited the Benguela Railway (CFB), where she was informed, through institutional videos, about the investments already made, what still remains to be done, the operation and the advantages provided by the infrastructures of the Lobito Corridor.

For this Friday, the delegation will have meetings with the General Tax Administration (AGT), Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola (AIPEX), the Carrinho Group and trade associations, returning to Luanda at the end of the works.
