Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda striker Tiago Azulão was distinguished on Sunday night with the award for best player of the 2021/22 football season.

The highest distinction in national football was awarded during the “Claque Magazine Awards” gala, held at a hotel in Luanda, after work by a jury made up of sports personalities in Angola.

The striker outperformed teammates Kinito and Soares, both in the defensive sector.

The Brazilian, who dethrones his former teammate Depú, was the top scorer in the “Girabola 2021-22” National Championship edition, with 21 goals, having therefore been instrumental in winning the title for the “tricolors” 12 years later.

In the same period (2021), Tiago Azulão emerged in the African Champions Clubs League where he helped the group reach the semi-finals, becoming the second best scorer in the competition with four goals.

But in the 2022 edition, the scorer ended up winning the continental golden boot with seven goals.

Also honored were Armando Machado (former president of the Angolan Football Federation), Manuel Pimentel (former member of the arbitration board) and Santos BiKuKu (president of Progresso da Lunda Sul).

The former star player Carlos Queiroz and Rui Araújo (former vice-president of 1. ° de Maio de Benguela) were also part of the list of honorees.

Gerson Emiliano was honored for representing Angolan arbitration abroad, with emphasis on the World Cup, held last January, in Qatar.

Carlos Calongo, Igor Nascimento, Mário Rosa, Orlando Pimenta, Carlos Pacavira, Francisco André and Erick Gonçalves were the juries for this second edition, after the first held in 2021.
